International Excess Baggage Shipping Guide
Travelling, relocating, or studying overseas often means carrying more luggage than standard airline baggage allowances permit. Unaccompanied excess baggage shipping provides an affordable alternative to paying high per-kilogram airport excess fees at airline check-in counters.
1. What is Unaccompanied Excess Baggage Shipping?
Unaccompanied excess baggage shipping allows personal belongings, extra suitcases, books, clothing, and household items to be dispatched separately as air cargo or sea freight from Pakistan to your international destination.
Primary Benefits:
- Significant Cost Savings: Substantially lower rates per kilogram compared to commercial airline excess baggage fees.
- Doorstep Pickup: Collection arranged directly from your home or residence in Pakistan.
- Flexible Weight Allowances: Ship 20 KG, 50 KG, or multiple luggage cartons without strict airline cabin/check-in constraints.
2. Choosing Air Cargo vs. Sea Freight for Baggage
- Air Cargo Baggage: Recommended if you need your personal belongings to arrive shortly after your flight (indicative 3 to 8 business days). Minimum chargeable weight is 20 KG.
- Sea Cargo Baggage: Recommended for large household moves, heavy items, or students relocating where transit time (indicative 15 to 45 days) is less urgent. Minimum weight starts at 70–100 KG.
3. Preparing Excess Baggage for Dispatch
- Suitcases & Baggage Cartons: Luggage can be shipped in sturdy suitcases (wrapped securely in protective film) or heavy-duty export cardboard boxes.
- Itemized Contents List: Prepare a complete list of personal items contained in each bag or carton for customs declaration.
- Prohibited Items Check: Ensure baggage contains no prohibited items, liquids, aerosols, flammable substances, or restricted electronics.
